Dearest readers, most of us are aware that our current and formerly trusted news sources have their own underlying narratives. In the thesaurus, I find the word "narrative" to have the most interesting definition when used as an adjective: "in the form of narration." This clearly reminds us that a news story, just like a photo or a video, is a snapshot of an event in objective reality that comes with its own parameters, and those parameters have their own pros and cons. Now, dearest readers, I would like to share a few interesting bits of news with you that you typically may need to be an info junkie to actually find. Things are about to get interesting :)
On March 30th, Seeking Alpha published a very, very interesting article titled "Russia's 3-Step Program to Put the Ruble on a Gold Standard". This is a crazy powerful move as there can be lots, lots of power to having a currency tightly connected to gigantic oil and natural gas reserves be directly backed by such an important precious metal. Oh, and a cursory Google search will let you know that the ruble has recovered anyways so I do not know what to think except that, at the end of any war, the real winners are those who are least destroyed aka the most untouched. You can read the key points below, or click here to read the full article but it does require a free account with them. According to the article:
Next, we have a narrative about China becoming the world leader in front of our very own eyes. That may be the case, with a tough central command type of government that picked and chose what it wanted out of capitalism as it rules its population with an iron fist. Except this, from Laowhy86, who together with Serpentza is one of the two extremely solid sources on the ground situation in the country.

- Step 1: Offer a premium fixed price for gold to domestic Russian banks who can't sell their gold internationally due to sanctions, encouraging domestic gold flows into Bank of Russia.
- Step 2: Strengthen the Ruble internationally by insisting on energy payments in Rubles, turning fixed price into a premium internationally as well, encouraging international gold flows into Russia.
- Step 3: Turn the Ruble into a credible gold substitute at a fixed rate.
- The 5000RUB window closes June 30. Does Russia declare the Ruble convertible to gold after that? At what rate? Rather than speculate on the Ruble, just buy the gold.

Finally, YouTube stock market and investing videos are often inundated with intraday and swing trading strategies, indicator combinations and so many other topics geared towards unrealistic expectations, poor money management and poor understanding of risk vs reward- no matter how much they want you to believe otherwise. Do you remember that people used to trade stocks based on closing prices that would come out in the newspapers every day? Yeah me neither, hard to remember something that was before my time. Yet, regardless, people developed charting methods and strategies that worked for longer term swings and zero intraday fiddling and messing around. Darvas Box is an interesting one, but honestly this video right below is something to really consider if you want a very strong foundation on a very strong charting method. Jack Dorsey, Nasdaq Dorsey Wright, Point and Figure Charts- these are the keywords to pay attention to if you believe in long term investing.
The above three pieces of content are interesting because they deal with something outside the 24-hour news cycle, outside of short trends, outside of our horrifically narrow attention span. These types of content are something I like. Whether I agree or disagree with some things contained in this type of content, I cannot deny one solid fact- this content approaches reality much closer than anything else fighting for my attention and yours every single day.
