Dearest readers, this time around I decided to skip a Valentine's Day article and talk about TikTok, how much fun I have on there and how I keep getting surprised everyone is not on it yet lol. Yep, it has certain privacy concerns because it is owned by a Chinese company, but all I can say to that is "Don't test me!!" haha. Also, I was thinking about taking this opportunity to share with you some of my favorite clips over the last few months which I am sure you'll enjoy.
On TV and in online articles, the lazy journalists are consistently confused about what TikTok is. No matter, they are still stuck trying to figure out Instagram (no offense to anyone, but come on jump in the water is nice and warm). On TikTok, you create an account and you can create your own content, follow other people, comment on their clips, message them, and of course do free and paid advertising. In terms of your feed, you can scroll through new posts from the accounts you follow, or you can scroll through a feed curated by AI, based on the kind of content you like. The more of the similar content that you like, the more of it your AI curated feed gives you, with some new different content mixed in. If you get tired of one category of curated clips, you can keep scrolling and stop liking them, and then the AI will curate for you in a new direction. You also have option to save or bookmark people's clips, share them, or use them to remix your own content. In terms of making content, you can do a clip of something with different effect options, and also you get to choose from many different song clips and sound effects. What is so cool about it? Here is a list of key features that each clip has, and these features make the content on here go viral:
So, what does all of this look like in practice? Have a look at some of my faves and decide for yourself :)
P.S. I'm sharing my vanilla faves- the more hardcore/crazy stuff I am totally keeping to myself. ;)

Here is a list of key features that each clip has, and these features make the content on here go viral:
- Clips are generally 10-15 seconds but can go longer- quick entertaining stuff with option for longer form content too.
- Hashtags just like on Instagram.
- Sometimes a certain song or sound clip goes viral and everyone does a similar video clip to go with it, e.g. like with Old Town Road.
- Sometimes a certain type of video clip like Star Wars WW3 goes viral, and people do varieties of it with different sound or song choices but they stick to the core idea overall.
- Sometimes a topic goes viral like being rich, being poor, Teslas, sex, dating, cosplay, amazing food etc, and then a certain idea or perspective within these topics goes viral and people do their video takes with different song choices.
- Sometimes there is a certain dance routine that mostly girls but also guys go for and, funny enough, it hardly gets repetitive haha.
- There is very little censorship, almost no political correctness, and shit gets crazy sometimes! Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you get offended, and how well you end up handling it all depends on how open you are to new experiences and how well you can tolerate stuff, especially because most people just try to be funny and clever rather than directly offensive or hateful.
